What did King William introduce ? A strong feudal system and divided local landowners land among barons
Why did King John sign the Magna Carta? To recognize the right of barons, promised he would not collect more taxes and promised he would not make his own decsion

When did king John accept the Magna Carta? 1215
What was common law based on? Based on custom and the judges decision
What were two countries in Europe that expelled Jews in the Middle Ages? England and France
Who returned home with silk, spices and other rare goods to trade? The Crusaders
What country did Crusaders gain no support from? Palestine
When did the Seljuk Turks conquer Jerusalem ? In 1071
What does Crusade mean ? Religious wars
What was the Inquisition ? It was a church court designed to investigate and judge heretics
What were three subjects students studied in Córdoba ? Music, medicine and philosophy
What were Muslims in Spain known as? Moors
Who were torturned by the Spanish Inquistition ? Muslims and Jews
What was so important about the Magna Carta ? It was a important role in the Middle Ages and is now too. It stated that even the king had to follow the rules
When did the decline of Muslim rule begin with a civil war? In 1002
Why were early Moorish rulers in Spain tolerant of Judaism and Christianity? The Qur'an encouraged tolerance, as all three religious worshiped one God. Christians outnumbered Muslims. So forcing them to convert would be impossible.
