Puritans The people who settled Massachusetts Bay Colony. They left England looking for religious freedom.
Anne Hutchinson A Puritan woman who believed that women could interpret the Bible. She was banished from Massachusetts Bay Colony.
John Winthrop An important governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Mary Dyer A Quaker woman who wanted religious freedom in Boston. She was hanged for her faith.
Salem Witch Trials A series of trials in Salem, Massachusetts where a group of girls gained social power by wrongfully accusing people of witch craft.
Spectral Evidence The belief that visions of ghosts and spirits could be used as evidence. This was used by girls in Salem to accuse people of witch craft.
1630 The year Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded.
