Feudalism

Who did the Vikings attack ? Britain, Ireland, and France
Who were the most successful invaders? Vikings from Scandinavia
What did the Vikings want ? New lands, better climate, and they wanted more loot
What was a serf? A slave owned by the lord
What was a fief? Given land by the lord
Why did Feudalism spread across Europe ? The government could not protect the people, so you lived in a manor that was governed by a lord
Who planted, tended and harvested the lords crops ? The peasants
What job did the lady of the manor do ? Ran the castle and household. She made sure everything was organized
What job did the lord of the manor play? He judged minor crimes and settled agreements
Who collected the taxes and was a business manager ? The bailiff
Who repaired buildings and oversaw peasants at work ? The reeve
What was feudalism? You were given land, and in return you give them your loyalty
