pork-barrel projects Government projects and grants that primarily benefit the home district or state
joint resolutions A bill passed by both houses of congress
special-intrest groups organizations or groups made up of people with some common intrest who try to influence government decisions

filabuster to talk a bill to death
cloture ending a filabuster with a three-fifths vote
voice vote a vote in which those in favor say "Yea" and those against say "No"
roll-call vote Voicing votes one at a time, as they are recorded
veto refuse to sign
pocket veto vetoing a bill because congress is not in session
