QuestionAnswer
What kind of climate did Europe in the Middle Ages have? Hot dry summers, and rainy winters.
Who is Charles the Great? One of the most famous rulers of the early Middle Ages.
What kind of empire did Charlemagne build? A Christian Empire.
What land was conquered under Charles the Great's reign? Most of Central and Western Europe.
When were the Middle Ages? A.D 500 to A.D 1500.
What was the importance of plains? It was the corridor for migrating people from Eastern Europe.
Who spread Christianity through Europe? Pope Gregory I.
What did the convent life offer? Study, scholarship, food, shelter, and protection.
How do you get into heaven? Have faith in Christ, follow his teachings,abandon all sinful ways,and observe sacraments.
How did monks make personal commitments? By promising poverty, chastity, staying in convent life until death, and being obedient.
What would monks and nuns do? Study the Bible, work in gardens, bee-keep, grow food, copy religious manuscripts, participate in the library,take care of the poor and sick, and pray.
What is the religious order? A community of people devoted to prayer and service and bound by vows.
The Vikings had a purpose for invading, what was it? They wanted better climate and money.
What is a feudal system? Political, Military, and Social system based on land.
What roles did the lady of the manor take part in? She was to run the household and castle when the King was away.
What did the Lord do? He judged minor crimes and settled arguements.
