Dust Bowl area of the U.S. in or surrounded by dust
Great Depression A time when the economy failed
Buying on margin a way to help buy stock easier
Credit a way to help buy everyday goods
Speculation buying stock without knowing anything about it
Boll Weevil A beetle that destroyed cotton
Subsistence Farming Farming just enough food to substane your family
Run on the Banks The people wanted to get their money back so they went to the banks and started the Run on the Banks
Bread lines Lines that people waited in to get bread
Shantees cardboard huts people lived in at the hoovervilles
Hoovervilles towns named after President Hoover where the poor lived
