What was the issue over the Oregon Territory's border with Great Britain and what was the compromise that resolved it? How is this different with American's dispute with Mexico over the borders in Texass? Four countries wanted it. Spain and Russia surrendered. the US and GB made an agreement to share the Oregon Territory. 1840s- US wanted the land from the latitude 54 40 and below. GB didnt agree. so they compromised and the new line was 49 degrees north.
in the doc. we watched on the TX revolution and Alamo, it said that revolution has been wrongly said as fight between Americans & Mexicans, civil race and uncvil race why is this not right description of the TX revolution and the battle of Alamo. it is not a correct description because most of the war was almost a civil war. the americans had to become mexican citizens to beable to live in texas. the war was against mexicans and texians and tejanos. the mex. were civil because they had a gov., con
America won nearly every battle in the Mexican-American War, controlled Mexico's capital and fought almost entirely throughout the country. Why then did the US not annex all of Mexico? They did not annex the rest of Mexico because they did not want the Mexicans to come into the US. People like Calhoun and Emerson said that they wanted the US to stay a pure white nation.
