| Toleration Act | gave religious freedom to all Christians in Maryland |
| Lords Proprietors | the 8 English leaders who founded the Carolina's |
| James Oglethorpe | founded Georgia |
| Great Wagon Road | immigrants and settlers followed this Native American trail west with their wagons |
| Tuscarora War | fighting 1711 between settlers and Natives in North Carolina |
| Plantation | a large farm |
| Charter | an official paper in which certain rights are given by a Goverment to a person, group, or businuss |
| Proprietary Colony | a colony owned and ruled by one person who was chosen by the king or queen |
| Cash Crop | a crop that people grow to sell |
