Who was Charlemagne? Charlemagne was a famous ruler.
What did Charlemagne want to do when he became king? He wanted to expand his realm and build a Christian empire.
Who did Charlemagne defeat? He defeated the Saxons.
Who supported Charlemagne? The Pope and the Roman Catholic Church.
