Who Excommunicated Henry IV? Pope Gregory VII excommunicated Henry IV.
Who crowned Charlemagne emperor? Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne the title of emperor.
What does the Pope have authority over? He has authority over both church and non-church leaders.
What was the Concordat, or agreement, of worms? The agreement about distributing power among Popes and Rulers.
What does Excommunicate mean? To ban, or remove from a religious group.
What happened after the Concordat, or agreement of worms? Popes and Kings still had conflict between each other.
What was Pope Gregory's name before being a pope? His name was Hildebrand.
What was Hildebrand's job before being a Pope? He was a monk.
Why did Charlemange want to be emperor? He would get a special relationship with God.
