How did the Incas build an empire? The Incas built a great empire by being influenced by geography.
When did Pachacuti become the Inca ruler? Pachacuti became the Inca ruler in 1438.
Why was human settlement and farming difficult in the Andes? Human settlement and farming was difficult in the Andes because of high elevation, cold climate, and steep slopes.
What were two farming innovations the Incas used? Two farming innovations were terraces and irrigation canals.
What were three livestock raised by the Incas? Three livestock raised by the Incas were llama, alpaca, and fish.
Who was the last Sapa Inca to rule? Huayna Capac.
How long did Pachacuti rule for? Around thirty years.
When did Huayna Capac start to rule? In the year of 1493.
Name two gods the Incas worshipped. Viracocha and Inti.
How was Inca society divided? Inca society was divided into three. One for the priest and the religion, one for the government, and one for the ayllu.
Why were religious rituals important to the Incas? Religious rituals were an important part of Inca spiritual life. Priest performed these rituals to bring good harvests and to win the gods favor.
When did the Incas settle in Cuzco Valley? They settled in Cuzco Valley in 1200.
What is the Inca hierarchy? Nobles by birth, Appointed Nobles, and Curacas.
What is a Noble by birth? Close relatives of a ruling family.
What is an Appointed Noble? A person who became a noble as reward for service to the empire.
What is a Curacas? A Curacas is a local non-Inca chiefs.
