Timelines

TermDefinition
Timeline A diagram used to see relationships among several events.
Chronological Order The order in which events actually happened
Title Tells the overall topic
Event One of the three parts of a timeline that relates some way to the title.
B.C./A.D. Before Christ/Anno Domini
B.C.E/C.E. Before the Common Era/Common Era
Decade A period of ten years
Century A period of 100 years.
Generation The period of time between the birth of parents and the birth of their children. This is a period of about 25-30 years.
Millennium A period of 1,000 years.
Single-Tier Timeline A timeline that consists of a single line with events in chronological order.
Multiple-Tier Timeline A timeline with more than one line of events occurring in the same time period.
