Inca A group of powerful South American’s who ruled over a large empire that stretched for some 2,500 miles in Northern South America, centered around today’s Peru. Francisco Pizarro was the Spanish Conquistador who conquered the Inca people during the 16th c
Aztec An indigenous Central American people who established an advanced civilization and powerful empire in the area of present day Mexico that existed approximately two centuries (1325-1519 CE) before the Spanish arrived.
Hernan Cortes 1485-1547) Conquistador or Spanish explorer, best known for conquering the Aztec Empire and claiming its land and wealth for Spain.
Montezuma Ruler of the great Aztec Empire and city of Tenochtitlan until Spanish conquistadors, led by Hernan Cortes, imprisoned him in 1520.
Atahualpa (1502-1533) The 13th and final emperor of the Inca Empire who was killed by the Spanish in 1533.
Columbian Exchange an exchange of people, animals, plants, and even diseases between the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.

Line of Demarcation An imaginary line dividing the world in half giving all the land to the West to Spain and all the land to the East to Portugal. The other European countries did not recognize this line and continued to colonize.
Touissant L’ouverture He was a freed slave who returned to Haiti to free his people from under British rule then from under French rule.
