What is the Constitution? It is the plan for our country

Why is the US government divided into 3 parts? To make sure the three branches share power
The senators and representatives are part of which branch? The legislative
The president and vice president are part of which branch? The executive
The judges and justices are part of which branch? The judicial
What is a check and balance in our government? Each branch can check on the others and that way the power is kept in balance
The executive branch makes sure that laws are obeyed or enforced
The legislative branch makes the laws
One job the judge of a court has is making sure the trial is fair
Who makes sure a trial obeys the rules? the judge
What "check" does the president have over the judicial branch? He gets to nominate Supreme Court justices
What "check" does the president have over the legislative branch? He can veto a bill
What "check" does the legislative branch have over the executive branch? They can override a veto
What "check" does the judicial branch have over the legislative branch? They can say that a law is unconstitutional
