| imperialism | A policy in which a strong nation seeks to dominate other countries poitically, socially, and economically. |
| colonization | the movement of settlers and their culture to a new country |
| indirect rule | British and other colonial procedures through which "natives" were used to carry out colonial rule |
| assimilation | Giving up ones customs and adopting those of another culture |
| embargo | a government order imposing a trade barrier |
| Unstable | A description of the plitical situation in Nigeria today |
| Pan-African movement | movement which began in the 1920's that emphasized the unity and strength of Africans on the main continent and people of African descent around the world. |
