| Footbinding | the Chinese custom of applying painfully tight binding to the feet of women so their feet could not grow; the “goal” was that feet would be only 3 inches long; this often disabled the women |
| Feminist Movement | the movement which sought (and still seeks) to have fully the same political, social, and economic rights and conditions for women as men have |
| Indira Gandhi | first (and so far only) female Prime Minister of India 1966-1977, 1980-1984; was shot 30 times and assassinated (killed) by her body guards in 1984 |
