| ARRESTS | US has seen a powerful serge in putting people in Jail over the last four decades. Blacks are only 13% of the US population but make up 37% of the people arrested for drug offenses. |
| POLICE STOPS | Police stop blacks and Latinos at higher rates than whites. 80% of the NYPD stops were of Blacks and Latino. |
| DRUG ARRESTS | Since 1970 Drug arrest have skyrocketed for Blacks - from 320K to 1.6 Million according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics |
| REMAIN IN PRISON AFTER ARREST | Blacks are more likely to remain in prison awaiting trial than whtes |
| PUBLIC DEFENDER | Once arrested, 80% of people in the criminal system get a public defender & less money than the prosecution. Defendants plead guilty even if theyre innocent cause they dont understand their legal rights. |
| EXCLUSION FOR JURY SERVICE | Blacks are illegally excluded from serving on a jury In Houston Alabama 8 out 10 Blacks qualified for jury service but was sttruck by prosecutors from serving on death penalty cases. |
| TRIALS | Blacks never get a trial but settle for a plea bargain. Most plea bargains consist of a longer sentence. Blacks plead guilty even when innocent so they dont have to do all the time. |
| LONGER SENTENCES | Black offenders receive sentences tha tare 10% longer than white offenders for the same crimes |
| STATE PRISONS 56% | Blacks are 13% of the population (small) & 14% of drug users (small) and 37%(small) of the people arrested for drugs BUT 56% of people in state prison. |
| BLACK MALES BORN | Statistics concludes that the chance of a black male born in 2001 has a 32% of going to jail. Latino males have a 17% chance and white males of a 6% chance |
| JUVENILE YOUTH | Juvenile youth is but 16% of the population, 28% of juvenile arrest, 37% o fyouth in juvenile jails and 58% of black you are sent to adult prisons |
| THE US LEADS | The US leads the world in putting our own people into jails and prison |
| BLACK APPLICANTS | Black applicants released from jail have a harder time getting jobs. White applicants with criminial records receive call backs and get better treatment than blacks WITHOUT criminal records. |
