profit | The money gained from the sale of goods or services after all the cost needed to make the sale is subtracted from the amount received. |
resource | A source or supply of a useful material. |
fur trader | A term used for a European or American involved in the fur trade and often the person in charge of the trading post. |
pelt | An animal skin with the fur on it. |
hunter | A person, usually a man, who spends most of his time hunting or trapping animals for the fur trade. |
guide | A person who is hired to help fur traders and voyageurs find their way through the woods and waterways. |
interpreter | A person who translates for people who speak different languages. |
clerk | Manages the day to day business at the trading post. |
voyageur | Workman who performed the physical labor of the fur trade, usually transporting furs and goods by canoe. |
