Chapter 3 Review: 13 Colonies

QuestionAnswer
What was the main goal of the English in colonizing America? To gain wealth like Spain.
What is the full name of the joint-stock company that sponsored Jamestown? The Virginia Company of London.
What is a joint-stock company? A company funded by investors.
Why did the English settlers settle Jamestown where they did? They wanted a spot that would be safe from Spanish attack.
What happened to the colony of Roanoke? The people all disappeared. They were either killed by natives, or they joined the tribes. Also, they could have died from starvation.
