Duckboards A duckboard is a platform made of wooden slats built over muddy ground to form a dry passageway.
Rats Rats are small rodents that carry diseases and are usually are found in in area that are hidden and unsanitary.
No man’s land To describe the area of land between two enemy trench systems to which neither side wished to move openly or to seize due to fear of being attacked by the enemy in the process.
Infantry Soldiers marching or fighting on foot; foot soldiers collectively.
Gas Mask The gas mask is a mask used to protect the user from inhaling airborne pollutants.
Dead in the middle When dead soldiers are lying in the middle of a trench.
Support troops Troops come in to support the main troops when help is needed.
Reinforcement Extra personnel sent to increase the strength of an army or similar force.
Western front The Western Front was the name applied to the fighting zone in France and Flanders, where the British, French, Belgian and the American armies faced that of Germany.
