TermDefinition
hypothesis is a statement of what you think will happen during an investigation
observation is something you find out about objects
experiment is the use of scientific methods
variable is something that can change in a test
independent variable is one that you can control
dependent variable it changes when a independent variable changes. It is what gets measured. It gives data.
control group is a standard against which change is measured
procedures are step by step instructions
data is information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made
precision is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement
accuracy is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual answer
inference is a conclusion based on observations
evidence are observations that make you believe that something is true
model objects or ideas that represent other things
surveys Are question that are answered by people. And these are great for opinion questions.
sampling examining random individuals from a population
experimental group The group that gets the special treatment.
control group The group that doesn't get the special treatment.
