Militarism The belief that a nation needs a large military force. The countries kept building up their military. THE CYCLE
Imperialism The policy by which stronger nations extend their economical, or military control over weaker nations or territories. It caused a build up in tension
Isolationalism Not believing that your country should be in other nations exept in matters of self defence. helped prevent war
Lusitania A British passenger ship that was sunk by a German U-boat Turned many Americans against Germany
Zimmerman Telegram The telegram that was discovered by the British who passed it on to the Americans. Told Mexico Germany would help them get their lost land back from Germany. Americans were furious.
Central Powers An alliance of Austria-Hungary, Germany, the Ottoman Empire, during WW1 Faced the Allied Powers
Allied Powers Serbia, Russia, France, Great Britain, Italy and seven other countries Faced the Central Powers
Nutrality Not being on either side Helped keep countries out of war.
Nationalism The belief that your country is the best Developed an Us v.s. Them statement
