Colonization
| Term | Definition |

| Indentured Servant | individuals who agreed to work for a period of time in exchange for free passage from Europe |
| Triangular Trade | connected the English Colonies, England, the West Indies and the west coast of Africa for trade purposes |
| Specialization | choosing a specific line of work and becoming an expert in that area |
| Assembly | a group of government officials who meet to make laws |
| Plantation | a large area of privately owned land where crops were grown with the labor of workers or slaves who lived on the land |
| Monarchy | a Royal Family that rules a settlement or country |
| Democracy | free and equal representation to participate in forming a government |
| Royal Government | a political official either appointed or elected |
| Middle Passage | the long, harsh sea journey taken by African slaves to the colonies |
| Cash Crops | a crop that is grown in large quantities for sale to other people |
| Mayflower Compact | a signed agreement that described the way the Pilgrims planned to govern themselves in the New World |
