technology The use of skills and tools to meet practical human needs
Old Stone Age Period of human prehistory that lasted until about 12,000 years ago during which stone tools were most common technology
hunter-gatherer A person who met their needs by hunting animals and gathering food.
agriculture The raising of crops and animals for human use.
New Stone Age The period of human prehistory that lasted from 12,000 years ago to about 6,000 years ago during which people still used stone tools and began experimenting with agriculture.
domesticate To train animals and plants to be useful to people
surplus An extra supply of something
specialization Training to do a particular kind of work.
civilization A culture that has developed systems of specialization, religion, learning, and government.
trade The exchange of goods between people
