WordDefinition
Subcontinent A landmass, such as India, that is of great size but smaller than a continent
Ganges River A river that across most of northern India
Physical features An aspect of the land, such as mountains, plateaus, and rivers
Himalaya Mountains Located along the Northern boarder of India, they are the highest mountain range in the world
Monsoon A strong wind that brings heavy rain to southern Asia in the summer
Glaciers A huge mass of ice that slowly slides over a land area
Plateau A flat area of land that is elevated, or raised, above the land around it
Hindu Kush Mountains They form a fierce barrier between India and present day Afghanistan
Brahmaputra River A river that starts high up in the Himalayas
Indus River It begins in the Himalaya Mountains, and gets its water from melting snow from the Hindu Kush mountains and other mountain ranges
Deccan Plateau A triangle shaped area between two mountain ranges in southern India
Thar Desert Located in northern India and is mostly sand and stone
Eastern and Western Ghats Long mountain chains near the coast of India
