Name the three Language Groups The three language groups are Algonquian, Iroquoian and Siouan.
Who is Chief Powhatan? Chief Powhatan was the leader of the Algonquian tribe.

What are the Three Sisters? The three sister are crops such as corn, beans and squash.
Which language group was responsible for growing the Three Sisters? The Siouan language group was responsible for
Why was trading important to the American Indians? Trading was important to the American Indians because they were able to obtain products that were not found near them.
What are some things American Indians traded? American Indians traded copper for food and other goods.
How did American Indians trade? American Indians used different methods to travel to trade. Tribes that lived inland made trails through the woods. Groups that lived along the rivers traveled on the water to trade.
Why is archeology important? Archeology is important because it shows how people lived long ago.
Why was the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act important to American Indians. American Indians suffered discrimination or unfair treatment. The 1964 Civil Rights act banned discrimination based on race.
What is a Pow Wow and why is it important? A Powwow is a yearly celebration for members of an American Indian group. It is important because it honors American Indian culture.
Why was Dumpling Island important? Dumpling Island was important because the chief of Nansemond lived their. It was also home to the group/s temple, or places of worship.
What is Mattanock? Mattanock would be the name of a traditional town that the Nansemond hope to build. This traditional town would have a big effect. It would increase tourism and bring money to the area.
