| Iroquois | A Native American Tribe living in modern day New York. |
| Champlain | A French explorer that created the first permanent French settlement in the New World, Quebec. |
| La Salle | A French explorer that claimed the Mississippi River for France. |
| Cartier | A French explorer that discovered the mouth of the St. Lawrence River for France. He was looking for the Northwest Passage. |
| New Netherlands | The Dutch colonies in the new world. Covered both sides of the Hudson River and Manhattan Island. |
| Henry Hudson | An explorer that found the area known as New Netherlands |
| Peter Stuyvesant | An important leader of New Amsterdam (the capitol of New Netherlands) |
