| Ethnic group | of or relating to a population subgroup (within a larger or dominant national or cultural group) with a common national or cultural tradition |
| Steerage | the part of a ship providing accommodations for passengers with the cheapest tickets |
| Sweatshop | a factory or workshop, esp. in the clothing industry, where manual workers are employed at very low wages for long hours and under poor conditions. |

| Tenement | house divided into and rented in such separate residences, esp. one that is run-down and overcrowded. |
