| absolute location | the exact location of a place, measured by latitude and longitude |
| equator | the line at 0 degrees latitude that divides Earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres |
| geographer | a scientist who studies the earth and its features |
| longitude | vertical line that shows the east or west position of a point |
| latitude | horizontal line that shows the north or south position of a point |
| prime meridian | the line at 0 degrees longitude that divides Earth into the Western and Eastern hemispheres |
| region | an area or place defined or grouped by common features or characteristics, such as landforms, climate, etc |
| relative location | the location of a place described in relation to other places |
| effigy mound | a raised pile of earth built in the shape of a stylized animal, symbol, religious figure, or human figure |
