| Golden Age | A period of great peace and wealth caused by the great leader named Pericles. |
| Pericles | Pericles was the great leader during the Golden Age who also helped rebuild Athens after the Persian war. |
| Acropolis | The hill above a Greek city on which temples were built. |
| Parthenon | The temple honoring the goddess Athena, built on the Acropolis above Athens. |
| Myth | A traditional story that helps to explain a culture's beliefs. |
| Architecture | The art of designing buildings. |
| Sculpture | The art of creating three-dimensional figures from such materials as wood, stone, and clay. |
| Socrates | Socrates was a philosopher who would question people's thoughts and made them think why they thought it. |
| Plato | Plato was one of the most important of the Greek philosophers. He was a pupil of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. |
| Panathenaic Games | In honor of the goddess, Athena, the Greeks held games like the Panathenaic Games to show the healthy body. |
| Olympics | In honor of the god, Zeus, the Greeks held games like the Olympics every four years and it even made truces from all wars so that athletes could travel safely to the games. |
