| Desert | an arid (dry) region that receives little precipitation (rain, snow, hail, cats, dogs) |
| Degree | a measure of distance equal to 1/360th of the earth's circumference |
| Glacier | a huge mass of ice originating from compacted snow |
| Gulf | a large part of an ocean or sea that extends into land |
| Isthmus | A narrow strip of land connecting two larger land masses. |
| Latitude | a measurement of distance north and south of the equator expressed as degrees |
| Longitude | a measurement of distance east and west of an imaginary line running through Greenwich, England expressed as degrees. |
