| democracy | a system of government where people have power, citizens can vote |
| autocracy | a system of government where one person rules and has total power |
| parliamentary democracy | a structure where power is held by an elected parliament representing the people |
| presidental democracy | a president is elected to make informed descions |
| republic | a structure of government |
| absolute monarchy | a structure of government where a monarch has total or all the power |
| constitutional monarchy | a king or queen(monarch)shares power with a government formed by a constitution |
| knnesset | legislature for Jews |
| prime minister | the head of an elected government; the principal minister of a sovereign or state |
| islamic republic | the name given to several states in countries ruled by Islamic laws |
| council of experts | charged with electing and removing the Supreme Leader of Iran and supervising his activities |
| ayatollah | a Shiite(of or relating to Shia) religious leader in Iran |
| supreme leader | the highest-ranking spiritual leader in Iran |
| sharia | (Islam) the body of canonical law based on the Koran that lays down certain duties and penalties for Muslims |
| traditional economny | an economic system based on ancestors the past or history |
| market economny | an economic system where decisions are based on supply and demand |
| command economny | an economic system where the government controls everything |
| mixed economny | an economic system combining private and public enterprise |
| human capital | the skills, knowledge, and experience possessed by an individual or population |
