How did Monarchy's get power? At first many kings were chosen by the people of a city-state. Eventually the kings wanted the power to go to children after their death.
how did Oligarch's get power? Most Oligarchs were aristocrats, men who had inherited land from their families. A few were wealthy merchants.
how did tyranny's get power? The Tyrants took power from Oligarchs by force. The tyrant does not have a legal right to rule.
how did the Democracy government get power? Decided to govern themselves
how did the monarch's lose power? The aristocats in most cities-states overthrew the monarchy and took the power for themselves. Overthrew them
how did the oligarch's lose power? Many people who weren’t wealthy came to hate the Oligarchs. Eventually the poor turned to leaders who promised to improve their lives. Backed by the people, they used their soldiers to throw the Oligarch's out of power
how did the tyranny's lose power? Most tyrants were forced out of power by the people
how did the democracy's lose power? Not all Greeks believed this was good type of government. Powerful speakers sometimes persuaded ordinary citizens to vote unwisely. Also, often the assembly reversed important decisions after just a few weeks. Because of these problems, most city states
