Jamestown

When did England start its first successful settlement? 1607
what was one thing that England use the New World for? They used it as a place to put the poor.
What else did England use North America for? They used it for its natural resources.
What was the first colony's name Jamestown.
Who financed Jamestown? The Virginia Company.
The first colonists did what? They tried to find precious metals.
Why did John Rolfe marry pocahontas? To form an alliance.
Why was the Starving Time? A low food supply, and bad relations with the Algonquians.
What were problems with Jamesfort location? It was near a marsh with disease carrying mosquitoes.
Great Britain also used the New World for what? As a market for their manufactured goods.
