In what year was Jamestown founded? 1607.
Who had sent the colonist on the first expedition and why? The Virginia Company of London had financed an expedition for Jamestown because they had wanted to get more natural resources and as a market for their manufactured goods and a place to send the poor.
Who were the first colonists to start Jamestown? Aristocrats.
Why hadn't the aristocrats survived very well or got resources very well? Because since they were used to everything being handed to them they didn't want to work hard.
What were the chances of surviving in jamestown? There was a 50% chance of surviving.
What Indians had caused them trouble? The Algonquins.
What was the first successful attempt of colonization? Jamestown.
Who financed Jamestown? The Virginia Company of London.
Who had been the leader of Jamestown and requiring colonists to work since they hadn't worked at all. John Smith.
What was the first cash crop and who introduced it? Tobacco and John Rolfe.
What Problems did they run into? Mosquitoes, not enough fresh water, disease.
What lead to starvation? A shipment of food had not made it and eventually that also lead to cannibalism.
