Why did England want to colonize America? They wanted the commodities and raw materials there, including tobacco.
What year was Jamestown founded? 1607

What did many people want in America and how did it be their downfall? Many of the people wanted gold and silver and weren't farming so they started to starve.
Who was John Smith? A young fighter from England who had fought both the Dutch and the Ottomans.
How long was he governor for? He was the acting leader of Jamestown from 1608-1609.
Why did he return to England? He was wounded by a gunshot.
What happened in Jamestown after he returned to England? Conflict between the colonists and the Indians increased rapidly.
What was the name of the Indian chief and his daughter? The chief was named Powhatan and his daughter was named Pocahontas.
Why did the population of the poor increase? New land restrictions
