| eight fold path | Rules for how you should live, according to Buddhism |
| indo-european | The family of languages that by 1000 BC were spoken throughout Europe and in parts of southwestern and southern Asia |
| devi | Saraswati and Parvati are but 2 of the many incarnations of the female Hindu deity |
| canaan | Ancient country that included parts of Jordan and Palestine and was controlled by Egyptians |
| enlightenment | Being able to view the world in a different, life-changing manner |
| nirvana | Buddhism believes that when the soul reaches complete enlightenment and highest bliss it enters this state of being |
| hinduism | A complex of beliefs and values and customs including worship of many gods especially the Trimurti composed of Brahman the Creator; Vishnu the preserver; and Shiva the destroyer |
| Siddhartha Gautama | An ancient Indian prince who founded Buddhism and became known as "the Buddha" |
| reincarnation | Embodiment in a new form(especially the reappearance or a person in another form) |
| yahweh | A name for the Old Testament God as transliterated from the Hebrew YHVH |
| dharma | Basic principles of the cosmos; also: an ancient sage in Hindu mythology worshipped as a god by some lower castes |
| abraham | The first of the Old Testament patriarchs and the father of Isaac; according to Genesis God promised to give Abraham's family(the Hebrews) the land of Canaan(the Promised Land); God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son |
| moksha | Freedom from reincarnation, a state of complete oneness with Brahman |
| karma | (Hinduism and Buddhism) the effects of a person's actions that determine his destiny in his next incarnation |
| covenant | (Bible)an agreement between God and his people in which God makes certain promises and requires certain behavior from them in return |
| torah | The first of three divisions of the Hebrew Scriptures comprising the first five books of the Od testament considered as a unit |
