Social Studies Vocabulary 2014 Mr. Howard's Class

TermDefinition
Civilization A group of people living in the same general area; usually bound by the same beliefs/religion and government.
Government An organized system of controlling or ruling the people in a civilization.
Writing Using letters or pictographs to convey and idea or thought; usually using a marking tool.
Religion Beliefs about how and why the world was created; usually involving a god(s).
Social Structure The class system, usually depends on how much money a citizen has or their job.
Stable Food Supply Having plenty of food, usually after a surplus in crops or animals.
The Arts Creative forms of creation or expression.
Technology An invention to help aid in achieving a goal; can be improved by an innovation.
