reservation the act of reserving something
lode a mass or strip of ore sandwiched between layers of rock
transcontinental (especially of a railroad line) crossing a continent
vigilante a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.
brand an identifying mark burned on livestock or (especially formerly) criminals or slaves with a branding iron
ghost town a deserted town with few or no remaining inhabitants.
subsidy a grant of money from the government to a person or company for a action intended to benefit the public
ore a mineral mined for the valuable substances it contains
open range land not fenced or divided into lots
nomadic moving from place to place with no permeant home or shelter
homestead act to acquire a piece of U.S. public land by living on it and cultavating it
