Williamsburg former capital of Jamestown Virginia colony
Pilgrims Separatists who were unhappy with the policies of the Church of England.
Puritans wanted to purify the church.
Mayflower Compact document signed by Pilgrims at Plymouth Mass. before they got off the boat.
Roger Williams started the colony of Rhode Island based on religious toleration.
Anne Hutchinson forced to leave the church in Mass. because she disagreed with the New England Way and went to Rhode Island.
William Penn founder of Pennsylvania for the Quakers
Quakers group of protestants who opposed war.
Lord Baltimore started the colony of Maryland as a safe place for Catholics.
James Ogelthorpe formed the colony of Georgia as a place for imprisoned debtors and convicts sent from England.
Indentured Servant a colonial landowner paid for their passage across the Atlantic and now they promise to work on the landowners plantation or farm, usually for 7 years.
