Basic map Skills

Absilute Location The exact location of a place based on lat. and long.
Cardinal Directions North, South, East, and West
Intermediate Directions Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, Southwest
latitude Imaginary lines that run East and West meeting at the pole. (Measure North and South) South
Longitude Imaginary lines that run north and South meeting at the pole (Measure East and West)
Equtor The 0 degree line of latitude
Prime Meridian The 0 degree line of longitude
Scale Used to determine distances in either customary or metric units between places on maps
