TermDefinition
Culture Way of life for a group of people.
Cultural Diffusion The spreading of one's own culture.
Jazz The birthplace is New Orleans. It is an improvised kind of music with strong rhythms and syncopation.
Blues It is based on black folk music especially the plantation worker's chants.
Fais-do-do A Cajun dance. It also means to go to sleep in French.
Zydeco It is the music of French speaking African Americans of South Louisiana. It is similar to Cajun music, sung in French, and played on the accordion.
Gospel Music It is church music blended with elements of folk music.
Spirituals It is sacred folk songs of African Americans, hymns, and popular music.
