Unit 1.1 SS6G8 - Geography

TermDefinition
Equator an imaginary line that equally separates the earth into northern and southern hemispheres.
Prime Meridian an imaginary line that goes from the North Pole to the South Pole and passes through Greenwich, England.
latitude an angle measure north or south of the equator that is used to determine location.
longitude an angle measure east or west of the prime meridian that is used to determine location.
compass rose a circle located on maps or charts that identifies direction.
population the total number of people living in a country, city, or any district or area.
peninsula a body of land surrounded on three sides by water.
continent huge landmass; there are seven that make up the world.
