Volcano An opening in Earths surface through which gases and lava escapes
Island A body of land surrounded by water.
Strait A narrow strip of water connecting to 2 larger bodies of water
Swamp An area land that is saturated by water
Flood Plain Flat land alongside a river, formed by mud and silt deposited by floods
River or Mouth The place where a river flows into a lake or an ocean
Sea Level The level of the oceans surface used as a reference point when measuring heights and depths
Marsh soft wet low-lying, grassy area located between water and dry land
Delta a triangular area of land formed from deposits at the mouth of a river
Harbor a sheltered area of water deep enough for docking ships
Cape a pointed piece of land extending into an ocean or lake
Bay A part of an ocean or a lake partially enclosed by land
Butte A raised flat area of land with steep sides
Oasis A fertile green area in an arid region
Desert an arid land with usually sparse vegetation
Mesa An isolated relatively flat-topped elevation
Prairie A treeless grass covered plain
Mountain a high and often rocky area of land mass with steep sloping sides
Steppe an extensive usually treeless plain often dry and grass covered
Valley A long low lying area if land often with a river or stream running through it that is surrounded by higher ground
Glacier a large body of continuously accumulating ice and compacted snow formed in mountain valley at the poles that deforms under its own weight and slowly moves
Cataract a series of river rapids and small waterfalls with only with only moderate vertical drop
Canyon a deep narrow valley with steep sides often with a stream running through it
Cliff A high steep rock or ice face especially a rock face extending along a coast line
Plateau an area of high ground with a fairly level surface
Peninsula a narrow piece of land that juts out from the mainland into an area of water
