What was the name of the united states first form of government? Articles of Confederation
Why was the first form of government a failure? The states had to do the work for voting. There wasn't a president.
What was the goal of the constitutional convention? To create a more perfect union. A just right government.
What was the New Jersey plan? One vote per state. Favored smaller states.
What was the Virginia plan? Votes based on population. Favored the larger states.
what was the great compromise? Creating a government with three different branches.
What was the 3/5 compromise? Figuring out if the slaves should count as the population.
Who was the main author of the constitution? No one person wrote the constitution but the idea came from governor Morris.
What was the preamble? The document that introduces the laws.
What does the word "bicameral" mean? Made up of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
What is the primary role of the legislative branch? Responsible for making Laws.
What is the primary role of the executive branch? It enforces laws.
What is the primary role of the judicial branch? State and Federal get power from either the State constitutions and laws or the U.S constitution and laws.
What are the requirements to be a member of the house of representatives? Must be at least 25,U.S citizen for 7 years, and live in the district they represent.
What are the requirements to be senator? Be at least the age of 30, U.S citizen for 9 years, and live in the state they represent.
What are the requirements to be a president? You have to be born as a U.S citizen and be at the age of 35.
What are the powers of the president? Able to veto bills.
What are the powers of the congress? Call for the impeachment of the president, pass bills over a veto, and can create a lower federal court.
How long is a house of representatives term? The representatives have a term for 2 years.
How long is a senators term? The senators term is 6 years.
How long is the presidents term? 1 term is 4 years and a president is able to have two terms.
