Why was America's first form of government a failure? The national government had too less power while states had too much
What was the goal of the Constitutional Convention? To amend the Articles of Confederation with the US Constitution
What was the New Jersey plan? A plan for the constitution to let all states have equal power over another regardless of population favored small states
What was the Virginia Plan? A plan for the constitution to let all states have equal power in terms of population favored big states
What was the Great Compromise? A compromise that had decided how each state would use their power, separating congress to two houses
What was the 3/5th compromise? A compromise on how much a slaves vote count as (which is 3/5 of a person)
Who was the main author of the Constitution? James Madison
What is the preamble? The beginning part of the constitution
What does the word "bicameral" mean? Two houses or two chambers
What is the primary role of the Legislative Branch? To create laws
What is the primary role of the Executive Branch? To enforce/carry out laws

What are the requirements to be a member of the House of Representatives? At least 25, a US citizen for at least seven years, and live in the district/state they represent

What are the powers of the President? To be party leader, chief of state,economic leader, commander in chief, chief executive, and chief diplomat
What are the powers of Congress? Creates rules, collect taxes, pay debts, borrow money, regulate trade, coin money, punish counterfeiters, punish pirates, establish post offices, protect patents/copyrights, create lower federal courts, declare war, raise/support an Army/Navy, and laws
How long is a House of Representative's term? 2 years
How long is a Senator's term? 6 years
How long is a President's term? 4 years
How many Supreme Court Justices are there? 9 justices
How long is a Supreme Court Justice's term? For a lifetime (until they retire) as long as they follow the law
What is the main job of the Supreme Court? To interpret whether laws are constitutional or not
Why are Supreme Court Justice's term so long? It is a check so they do not need to worry about reelection.

What are the three levels of the federal court system? District Court, Appellate Court, and Federal Court
What does the word "appeal mean"? To appeal means to get another trial in a higher court
What part of the government has to approve all Supreme Court Justices? The Legislative Branch's Senate approves
What is Judicial review? The only power the branch has, to interpret the laws
What does the 1st amendment protect? Freedom of Religion, Freedom Speech, Freedom of Press, Freedom of Assembly, and the Freedom of Petition
What does the 2nd amendment protect? Right to bear arms
What does the 3rd amendment protect? Right not to quarter soldiers
What does the 4th amendment protect? Freedom from unreasonable search and seizure
What does the 5, 6, 7th amendment protect? Due process of law, right to speedy trial, and right to a trial/court
What does the 8th amendment protect? No cruel and unusual punishments, excessive fines, and excessive bails
What does the 9th amendment protect? Constitutional rights do not deny other rights
What type of government does the 10th amendment protect? The State Government
What is the Bill of Rights? A bill that has encouraged people to ratify the constitution. The first ten amendments to the constitution

What is the president in charge of as Commander in Chief? Command over military
What is the president in charge of as Chief Diplomat? Command with diplomatic foreign relations, appointing ambassadors
What is the president in charge of as Chief Economic Advisor? Commands economic proficiency and outlook
What is double jeopardy and what amendment protects us from it? Double Jeopardy is when one gets called on the court for breaking a law twice, which is impossible because it is protected by the 5th amendment
what does it mean to plead the 5th? Self-incrimination
What is eminent domain? The power to take another's land for a public property's sake, but they have to pay people with the right path
