Why was America's first form of government a failure? It gave the states too much power and the federal government had little to no power.
What was the goal of the Constitional Convention? To fix the articles of Confederation
What was the New Jersey plan? It favored the smaller states
What was the Virginia plan? It favored the bigger states
What was the Great Compromise? A compromise between the states and they decide to combine the new jersey plan and virginia plan
What was the 3/5 compromise? That slaves counted for 3/5 of a person.
Who was the main author of the Constitution? James Maddison
What is the Preamble? The first paragraph of the Constitution
What does the word "bicameral" mean? 2 houses
What is the primary role of the legislative branch? to make bills/laws
What is the primary role of the Executive branch? to enforce/ carry out laws

What are requirements to be a member of the House of Representatives? You have to be at least 25, you need to live in the U.S.A. for at least 7 years, U.S.A. citizen
What are requirements to be a Senator? You have to be at least 35, you need to live in the U.S.A. for at least 9 years
What are requirements to be president? You have to be at least 40, you have to be born in the U.S.A., live for at least 14 years in us
What are the powers of the President? Heads the armed forces, makes appointments, makes treaties, signs or vetoes laws, sees that laws are carried out
What are powers of Congress? Makes laws, collects taxes and borrows money, prints and coins money, provides for and maintains the armed forces, override vetoes
How long is a House of Representative's term? 2 years
How long is a Senators term? 6 years
How long is a Presidents term? 4 years
How many supreme Court Justices are there? 9
How long is a supreme Court Justices' term? For life
Why are supreme Court Justices' terms so long? It prevents a president from removing justices from their job if he does not like the decisions they make.

What are the 3 levels of the federal court system? District Court, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court
What does the word "appeal" mean? apply to a higher court for a reversal of a decision of a lower court or an application to a higher court for a decision to be reversed

What is a Judicial Review? Is the power of the judiciary, of the courts, to determine whether the acts of other branches of government are in accordance with the Constitution
What does the 1st Amendment protect? Freedom of religion, speech, of the press, assembly and petition
What does the 2nd Amendment protect? Right to bear arms
What does the 3rd Amendment protect? Protects citizens from soliders living in their house
What does the 4th Amendment protect? Protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures

What does the 9th Amendment claim? That even though "certain rights" are not listed in the Constitution, it does not mean that you are not protected them.
