AmendmentWhat it Guaranteed
First -Freed of religion, speech, and the press -The right to gather together peaceably and to ask the government to reverse its decision.
Second The right to own weapons
Third The right not to have soldiers stay in your home without your consent.
Fourth -The right to privacy -The right not to have our possessions taken by the government without good reason.
Fifth -The right to trial and protection from testifying against yourself. -The right to be paid fairly for land taken for public use
Sixth The right to a fair and speedy trial by jury, and to a lawyer's advice if you want it.
Seventh Additional rights involving trials
Eighth -Protection from unfair bail and fines. -Protection from cruel and unusual punishment
Ninth Protection, even though a right is not specifically listed in the Constitution
Tenth Those powers not given to the government belong to the states
Eleventh Rules for lawsuits against states (1798)
Twelfth New Way of Electing the President and Vice President (1804)
Thirteenth Slavery Abolished or stopped
