| tornado | funnel shaped wind storm sometimes forms during a thunder storm |
| tropics | low latitude region between the tropic of cancer and the tropic of capicorn |
| mountain | land with steep sides that rise sharply from surrounding land |
| mountain range | a series of connected mountains |
| monsoon | seasonal wind that blows over a continent for a long period of time |
| weather | unpredictable changes in the air that take place in a short period of time |
| peninsula | body of lan or an ocean surronded jutting out into a lake |
| plain | area of low land at low elevation covered with grass |

| elevation | height above sea level |

| arctic circle | latitude line 66 1/2 degrees north |
| anarctic circle | latitude line 66 1/2 degrees south |
| longitude | meridans that run north south on a globe |
| thematic map | map that shows specific info like climate or population |
| scale bar | measures distance on a map |
| cardinal directions | North (never) East (eat) South (sour) West (watermelons). |
| map scale | the realationship between the distance between two places in real life and on a map |
| hemisphere | a half of the earth |
| equater | the main line of latitude |
| globe | a ball shaped and modeled of the earth |
| population density | average number of people per square mile |
| climograph | shows climate or weather patterns in specific place |
| pictographs | makes comparison using symbols or pictures |
