Marco Polo traveled to China.
First slave trade took place across the Saharan Desert. Soon after along the West African coast.
Christopher Columbus Explorer who ended up 'discovering' america.
Treaty Line of Tordesillas 1494. Portugal and Spain fought over who got what land. Pope split land for them. Spain ended up getting more.
Vasco Balboa 'discovered' the Pacific Ocean
Ferdinand Magella First to go around the globe
Ponce do Leon Found and named Florida looking for the fountain of youth
Hernando Cortes Conquers the Aztecs
Francisco Pizarro Conquers the Incas
Francisco Coronado Was looking for El Dorado. Found the Pueblo Indians.
Encomienda system Indians were given to Spanish landlords and forced to work on sugar plantations as 'missionary work'
John Cabot Italian explorer who sailed for the English. Touched the coast of US
Giovanni de Verrazand French explorer who touched the north american seaboard
Jacques Cartier French Explorer who found a river in Canada
Don Juan de Onate conquered indians ruthlessly
Robert de LaSalle claimed Louisiana for Kin Louis
Black Legend untrue belief that Spaniards only brought bad things.
